WFPRHA Survey

The Report

Introduction

The WFPRHA Outreach committee is developing a website for the organization.  The site they are currently planning features two very distinct parts.  One part is a public site that allows people to learn more about WFPRHA and family planning.  The other part is a private site for members only.  Included in the members site would be internal WFPRHA communications and notices about WFPRHA events and meetings.  It would also include information on clinical practices and best practices.  In order to determine whether or not this plan will meet the needs of WFPRHA members, they conducted a survey of the membership.  22 surveys were returned to the committee.  What follows is an analysis of the information the committee received, the raw results of the survey and a copy of the survey itself for your reference.

Section 1

86.4% of those surveyed stated that WFPRHA members should find our website useful.  This clearly states that the membership is first looking for an internal resource that provides information specific to WFPRHA and the membership’s needs.  Providing information to people interested in family planning and providing birth control information to other members of the medical community came in a distant second at 50.0%.  Despite the gap between these numbers, feed back in Section 2 of the survey indicates a strong desire to provide information that the public could use to either access their local family planning clinic or to learn more about reproductive health.  Feedback on who our intended audience should be is consistent with the package the Outreach Committee is currently putting together for the membership.

Section 2

According to the information collected, WFPRHA members are looking for an online place to connect with each other and to exchange information on clinic practices.  The most requested online services are information on policies, protocols, and procedures for members and information on best practices for members and other members of the medical community with 54.6% and 50.0% (respectively) of respondents ranking those two services in their top three.  Information on best practices for members and other members of the medical community ranked number one overall in terms of member interest.  Using the same measure, Information on policies, protocols, and procedures for members ranked third.  This combined with the fact that 40.9% of those surveyed placed information on advancements in birth control information in their top 3 which suggests that members are looking for an online network for clinic resources and professional development.  There is also a strong indication that members want to be able to access these things in a private way utilizing a “Members Only” Section.  It is recommended that the Outreach Committee review its plan for the “Members Only” Section in the context of this feedback to see if it is meeting the membership’s expectations.

In terms of the public section of the website, the membership seems to be looking for a way to help patients find their clinic and to provide them with information about reproductive health and family planning.  Members ranked information on all family planning clinics in Wisconsin as their 2nd highest interest.  Information on birth control, general information on reproductive health and information on sexually transmitted infections were ranked 5th, 7th, and 8th, respectively.  This information indicates that the public portion of the WFPRHA website should reflect the needs of potential patients.

Conclusion

With the exception of a few minor adjustments to match membership feedback, it seems as though the Outreach Committee is putting together a package that the membership will find useful and engaging.

Comments

A big part of what WFPRHA does is public policy, so it could be integrated into the “Who we are and what we’re up to” Section.

If political issues are presented I would like to hear both sides of an issue, not just the family planning members position.  Often family planning members want FREE everything for every client and I TOTALLY DISAGREE.  Everything should come at a price.  Clients can afford their tobacco, alcohol, and other things they want, so they should be expected to pay and be responsible for their sexual recreation and it’s consequences ie STI’s, PG, methods etc….Is all we do with these free programs is create more people in this world who think they are “entitled” to one more service for free.  While the rest of us working tax payers pay for their services and we become poorer ourselves every day, yet we wouldn’t qualify for any help because we make too much money.  So if you put in complaints about money being cut for repro health, please put in the arguments for the cuts also.  THANKS.

I would like this website to include information pertaining to anything family planning……reimbursement issues.  FPW issues.  Billing Changes.  New methods, etc.  Sometimes things/occurrences seem to be a secret!  Thanks, let’s keep everyone informed.
